Happy Belated Holiday Recap
It feels like there is quite a bit to catch up on. Where to begin? Where to begin? I guess my trip home is a good start. As always: a whirlwind. However, I think I might finally be getting the hang of it. More likely, my expectations and everyone else’s expectations are setting/converging/ more realistic?
We were able to see all of my immediate family and for the most part to spend a whole day with each relative. First there was a night at Granny’s house, then a night with Dad and Shannon, then Christmas eve back at Granny’s to see my Aunt, Uncle and cousins, then back to Sister’s house so we could wake up with Justice and see what Santa brought him. After that, we had brunch with Mamaw, Papaw, Mom and Mike, then followed Mom back to Chattanooga to spend a night at her house. Whew. That hurt my brain just to relive it all briefly.
After consecutive days of family time, Jim and I checked in to a Holiday Inn on Buford Hwy. Jim needed to debrief for a bit as he was on overload, not to mention, felt like he was getting sick. I went straight away to meet Judy and get my hair did. Still haven’t found anyone here
As soon as we were done, I rushed back to the hotel to change and we met some people out at the new 5 Season’s location. Well, not knew to Atlanta, but new to us. It was being built just as we were leaving.
After dinner we headed to Happy Karaoke on Buford Hwy and rented a room for 4 hours! I know how to pick me some karaoke singing fools. Jim included. It is pretty frightening how into Xanadu my husband gets.
The next morning Jim was feeling worse. Imagine that: his voice was scratchier and nose stuffier. I was really afraid we weren’t going to make it to stay with Jim and Jess because the last thing we wanted to do was to infect Jackson with Jim’s cooties. He took some medicine and finally started feeling okay. After a little while at their house he was feeling much better in fact and we were able to stay the night after all. Yay!
List of places we made it to: Carrabba’s (don’t ask me why I love this chain. I just do! Plus, it’s right next to Granny’s house), Flying Biscuit, Everybody’s Pizza, Mellow Mushroom, 5 Seasons.
List of places we missed, but wanted to go back to: Brickstore, Spoon, The Vortex, Northside Tavern, The EARL.
Next time, next time…

I miss you, Sweet Melissa! Thank you for my unexpected thank you.
