Girls’ Nights
On occasion, while living in Atlanta, ! was able to get a group of girls together to do something, but more often than not, it was like trying to organize a family reunion with each family member living in a different state. Here, a couple of girlfriends aren’t involved with anyone and/or are more likely to come out, and I also have a husband who works all the time here, so I’m bugging people to hang out more often. The results have been a success as two nights we’ve made it out for concerts in Orange so far, and a concert series in Irvine to start soon.
Also, I attended Kelly’s Bastille Day Party with my friend Melissa. There were boys at this one, but Jim was just on his way back from Raleigh. I was excited to be eating cheese and drinking wine, while he was excited to be sitting in first class for his very first time.
Also, the most excited I’d been in recent years was to have a slumber party with a couple of friends. Melissa lives in Orange and Candy lives in Fullerton. They came over while Jim was out of town and we grilled pizzas. We also stayed up late talking about ghosts, spirit possession, you know…slumber party stuff. We did not eat a lot of junk food (besides the pizza), because let’s face it, we aren’t 18 anymore. We all went to bed at around midnight, but because I was afraid my craft room bed wouldn’t be very comfortable, I told Candy she could sleep in my bed and we stayed up talking until 3AM. <yawn> Funny, though, I realize why it’s easy to be so close to your friends when you are a teenager…it’s because you get those opportunities to stay up, into the wee hours confessing your lives and your souls to one another. Needless to say, it’s a good way to fast-track a friendship and I am happy to have had a slumber party at 33.
